Bill Muncaster - Texas
I spent the most of the time in America by working for Lazy ´G´ Bar Ranch in Texas, which was focused on breeding of mules and quarter horses- the working horse on this ranch. Thanks to that I had a chance to meet many horses and mules breeders and ranchers. One of them was very interesting man, breeder of QH and a horse trainer Bill Muncaster, who was learning a horsemanship for many years from legends like Tom Dorrance or Ray Hunt.
I spent few days with Bill in a full circle fence where were happening a first contacts between young horses and man and after that a finding of trust, concentration and soft feeling. He told me many stories about a work with young horses and how a few little things can change a big one. The body language is a way how to find out what is happening and where is a solution.
Tom Dorrance says „ Do not rush… because a horse knows how much time do we need. Every single horse is completely different which means that time with them is different according to their character. One will want to be with us in 10 mins and another in 30 mins. With one we can do a first ride in three days and with another in ten days. Important is to make our horse feel comfortable and safe which builds trust and our horse follows us like a leader of his herd. If the horse if relaxed (as he says it by his body language) he will remember much more from our last lesson. Sometimes is better to spend time with our horse in a fence or pasture instead of the riding- it builds the true and strong relationship!”
I met Mr Ray Hunt and his work thanks to Bill who everytime accompanied him in Texas.
Thank you for that, Bill. M.
